Yip “YOU” Man-ho has officially broken his silence on Weibo following his suspension from XLG Esports, addressing the swirling controversies and ultimately announcing his departure from the team. In his statement, YOU expressed his pride in representing China as an esports player and apologized to the organization, his teammates, and fans for the trouble caused.

YOU Responds to Controversy and Announces Departure from XLG

~Translated to English "Hello everyone, I am YOU, a player selected for the Chinese team from Hong Kong, China. From beginning to end, I have always been a Chinese player.

Recently, due to a dispute involving me, it has drawn a lot of attention and caused discomfort to everyone. I’m truly sorry! Here, I want to apologize to all the players who were affected, as well as the audience and fans who support us. I'm sorry!

At the same time, I’d like to clarify some information circulating online:

Regarding “participating with a fake account”: According to the official penalty notice from Riot Games: I was banned for 12 months for violating the rules. The ban period was from September 20, 2021 to September 19, 2022. This is true.

Regarding the rumor that “my CS account was banned during a CS:GO tournament”: My account was indeed banned during a CS:GO tournament, but it has since been unbanned, and you can verify that through the unban record. My Steam account still has a ban record, but it is unrelated to CS:GO.

Regarding the screenshot alleging “sensitive/abusive comments”: The Steam account shown is not operated by me, and the related content was not posted by me. My Steam account is YMTATTTTT, and many friends know this. You can see it on my player profile as well. I will take full legal responsibility for all the above statements I’ve made.

I am deeply sorry to my club and everyone who has supported me, from the start of the tournament to today. This situation has consumed a lot of time and public resources, and has affected both the XLG and VCTCN tournament regions. Here, I am choosing to withdraw from the XLG Esports Club.

To all the viewers who have supported the club, and every friend who has been affected because of me: I sincerely apologize!I will accept all criticism and education"

YOU also took the time to clarify some of the major accusations against him:

  1. Match-Fixing Allegations: YoU acknowledged that Riot Games had suspended him for 12 months, spanning from September 20, 2021, to September 19, 2022, due to violations of competitive regulations. He admitted to this outright, taking full responsibility.

  2. CS Cheating Allegations: Responding to rumors of cheating in Counter-Strike, YoU explained that his account had indeed been banned during his CS days, but it was a mistake, and the ban was lifted after review. He noted that while his Steam account still has a ban, it is not linked to Counter-Strike, providing evidence to support his claim.

  3. Discriminatory Remarks Allegations: Regarding screenshots circulating online, accusing him of anti-China remarks, YoU firmly denied ownership of the Steam account in question. He clarified that his official Steam account is 'YMTATTTT,' which is publicly visible on his player page, urging fans not to believe unverified claims.

In his closing remarks, YOU announced his decision to part ways with XLG Esports, citing the negative attention and stress his controversy has brought to the organization and the VCT China community. He apologized sincerely to XLG, his fans, and everyone impacted, expressing deep regret for his actions and the distractions they caused.

His departure marks a significant shift for XLG, as they now move forward without YOU in their lineup.
