Group A: AG.AL Top the Group, Dplus Survive the Lower Bracket

After both teams comfortably won their Day 1 openers, AG.AL and G2 Esports met in the Group A winners' match with direct Knockout Stage qualification on the line. The LPL representatives continued their impressive group stage run, narrowly defeating the LEC champions to secure first place and become the first team from Group A confirmed for the Knockout Stage.

Dplus KIA — who had earlier eliminated FURIA — then faced G2 in the lower bracket final. The Korean side showed significant improvement across the course of the group stage, overcoming the Europeans to complete a successful lower-bracket run and claim the second Playoff spot. G2 exit in 9th–12th place, earning $55,000, in what is a disappointing end to their EWC campaign given their status as one of Europe's top seeds.

The lower bracket qualification match featured Sentinels against Karmine Corp, who had already survived elimination by knocking out Team Secret Whales in a 2-1 series. Riding that momentum, KC produced another strong showing to eliminate Sentinels and complete an impressive lower-bracket recovery — having lost their opening series against Gen.G on Day 1 and winning two consecutive must-win matches to reach the Knockout Stage. The LCK giants displayed significantly greater composure than they had against BLG, controlling the pace to eliminate the VCS representatives and secure the second Knockout Stage berth from Group C. GAM exit in 9th–12th place with $55,000.

JD Gaming's journey was not over. JDG responded in convincing fashion, eliminating the Brazilian representatives and locking in the final Playoff position. With the group stage complete, the EWC 2026 League of Legends Knockout Stage bracket has been finalized. All Playoff series are Best-of-Three, with the Grand Final played as a Best-of-Five. Fearless Draft is active throughout — meaning no champion can be repeated within the same series, forcing every team to reach deep into their champion pools under elimination pressure.

BLG vs Dplus KIA may prove the most tactically interesting match — Dplus arrive as the group stage's biggest improvers after eliminating G2, while BLG are yet to drop a game. And perhaps the most intriguing quarterfinal of all is AG.AL vs Karmine Corp — the LPL side topped Group A with wins over G2, but KC have already survived two consecutive elimination matches to reach this point and will not be intimated by the occasion.

The Road to the EWC 2026 LoL Title

After two days of group-stage competition, the field has been narrowed from sixteen teams to eight — and every remaining contender is now just three series from lifting the League of Legends trophy at the Esports World Cup 2026.
