The final gateway into the Esports World Cup 2026 CS2 main event is here. The Road to EWC 2026 CS2 Open Qualifier — also known as the Last Chance Qualifier — runs from August 7 to 9, 2026 at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, the same venue hosting the EWC 2026 main event itself. With a $100,000 prize pool on offer and the top four finishers earning direct spots at EWC 2026, this is one of the most important CS2 events of the back half of the season.

The EWC 2026 CS2 main event takes place from August 12–23 in Paris with 32 teams and a $2,000,000 prize pool. The Open Qualifier is the last remaining pathway in — and with an already stacked field assembled, the competition for those four spots will be fierce.
The Road to EWC 2026 CS2 Open Qualifier: What's at Stake
The Road to EWC 2026 CS2 Open Qualifier is the final stage of an expansive global qualification process. The broader Road to EWC programme spans more than 230 tournaments and qualification events worldwide, engaging over 350,000 competitors across publisher ecosystems, regional leagues, and official circuits. The LCQ is where that entire process converges into one final showdown.
The reward is singular and significant: the top four finishers qualify directly to the EWC 2026 CS2 main event in Paris. There is no further qualification stage beyond this. For the teams assembled in Paris from August 7, every match in the LCQ bracket is effectively a match for their place at one of Counter-Strike's biggest events of the year.
Prize pool breakdown:
1st - 4th place: Direct qualification to EWC 2026 CS2 main event
5th - 8th place: $9,500 USD
9th - 16th place: $7,750 USD
Total prize pool: $100,000 USD
Tournament Format
The Road to EWC 2026 CS2 Open Qualifier features a Group Stage followed by a Playoffs bracket across three days of competition at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
All participants must check in at the venue welcome desk, with venue doors opening at 10:00 CEST each day. Entry to the venue is free for all registered participants.
Road to EWC 2026 CS2 Open Qualifier: The Teams
Although this is an open qualifier, the current participant list already features a remarkable collection of established organisations and recognisable names from the international CS2 scene.
Headline entrants include Team Liquid, HEROIC, Virtus.pro, Eternal Fire, Fnatic, BIG, OG, FlyQuest, NRG, SAW, 100 Thieves, and SINNERS — all of whom bring extensive experience competing at the highest levels of Counter-Strike. Their presence immediately raises the competitive standard of the event despite its qualifier status.
The field also includes several ambitious Tier 2 organisations and rising contenders: Metizport, Gentle Mates, HOTU, EYEBALLERS, FOKUS, Sangal Esports, Sashi Esport, 9INE, Fluxo, Phantom, InnerCircle, K27, JijieHao, and Apoee all bring impressive regional depth to the bracket.
One of the most compelling storylines heading into the event is the participation of s1mple's team, with the legendary AWPer returning to open competition in pursuit of a place at the Esports World Cup. His presence adds another layer of excitement to what is already a stacked field — where established organisations, ambitious challengers, and rising rosters are all chasing exactly the same prize.
What the Road to EWC 2026 CS2 Open Qualifier Means for the Season
For many organisations in the field, simply advancing through the bracket and into the top eight will represent a meaningful result. For the established names — Liquid, HEROIC, Fnatic, BIG, and others — anything short of top four and EWC qualification will be viewed as a significant disappointment given the resources and experience they bring to the event.

The four teams that come through the Open Qualifier will join the already confirmed EWC 2026 CS2 field in Paris from August 12, competing for a share of the $2,000,000 prize pool across one of Counter-Strike's most prestigious international events. For every team in attendance at the LCQ, this is the last chance to be part of it.
