ZETA DIVISION closed out Week 3 of the VCT Pacific 2025 with a surprising 2-0 victory over Paper Rex(PRX), who had remained undefeated throughout Split 2. The Japanese squad earned their first points of the tournament and spoiled the Masters Toronto champion’s plans to secure the top spot in Omega Group ahead of the final week of the group stage.

Although Paper Rex had already secured a playoff spot, finishing as group leader would have provided a key advantage in the final bracket. However, ZETA DIVISION, already eliminated from the tournament, was superior throughout the series and disrupted PRX’s plans to end the week atop the standings with an unexpected win on July 3.

The series began on Lotus, with ZETA DIVISION taking control early on their pick, closing the first half up 7-5. After the side switch, Paper Rex narrowed the gap, but couldn’t break through the Japanese defence led by Shota “SugarZ3ro” Watanabe and Yuto “Xdll” Mizomori, who secured the win 13-9.

Despite Sunset being PRX’s map choice, it was the Japanese squad that jumped to an early lead on attack, heading into halftime with a commanding 9-3. The Masters Toronto champions responded with four consecutive rounds, but Hikaru “CLZ” Mizutani and Kim “TenTen” Tae-young closed out the game to lock in ZETA’s first points of Split 2.

Results Clarify the Playoff Picture Before Final Week

TALON Esports finished Week 3 at the top of Omega Group following a 2-0 win over T1 on August 1. Both teams have already qualified for the playoffs, while DetonatioN FocusMe completes the bracket with a victory against BOOM Esports. The Indonesian squad will now have to wait until the end of the group stage to learn whether they will defend their slot at VCT Ascension 2025 or drop to Challengers SEA.

Gen.G became the first team from Alpha Group to qualify for the next phase after securing a 2-0 win over Team Secret early on Friday. Despite the defeats, both squads remain in the fight for the final two spots, joined by Nongshim RedForce, who kicked off July 3 with a dominant performance against Global Esports.
