With the respective champions from each league already crowned, the professional League of Legends scene is now preparing for the most important event of the season. With all participants confirmed, here’s a look at the teams, format, and schedule for Worlds 2025, which will celebrate the 15th anniversary of LoL Esports. The professional circuit will bring together the best teams of the season in China, as they compete to crown a new world champion at Worlds 2025. Each major league will send three representatives, except for China’s LPL and Korea’s LCK, which will have the chance to add one more team if they advance through the play-in stage, contested only between these two regions. Worlds 2025 LoL Esports – Teams, Schedule, and Format

Worlds 2025 Schedule and Format

Worlds 2025 will be divided into three stages, starting with the Play-In phase on October 14 at the Beijing Smart Esports Center. The opening match will feature Invictus Gaming and T1. The fourth seeds from the LCK and LPL will face each other in a best-of-five series, with the loser saying goodbye to the tournament early, which means we could have a World Championship without Faker, the player many consider the best in the world.

The Swiss Stage will take place from October 15 to 25, alternating between single matches and best-of-three series depending on the results. Across five rounds, teams will face opponents with the same win and loss record. Those who suffer three defeats will be eliminated, while the teams that reach three wins will advance to the next stage. The top eight teams will advance to the knockout stage, where they will be seeded according to their performance in the previous phase. The elimination stage will begin on October 28 with best-of-five series held in Shanghai. The grand final is scheduled for November 9 at the Dong'an Lake Sports Park in Chengdu. After its success among fans, Riot Games will keep the Fearless Draft format for Worlds 2025. This new pick system prevents teams from selecting the same champions as the series progresses, ensuring greater champion diversity throughout the tournament.
