Everything You Need to Know About VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027
Updated: 3 minutes ago
VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027 will feature 12 teams, including eight partner organizations and four non-partner teams advancing through a dedicated qualification system. With three places at Masters Seoul on the line, the tournament will open a new competitive season in which aspiring teams have a clearer path to challenge established organizations.

Riot Games has confirmed that the 2027 season will introduce a new qualification structure for Pacific, including regional Open Qualifiers and separate pathways for Kickoff and the regional Cups. While both systems provide opportunities for non-partner teams, they serve different purposes and determine entry to different tournaments.
For Kickoff, the focus is straightforward: four teams must earn their places through three regional qualification routes and a four-team Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ). The resulting 12-team tournament will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, with the top three teams advancing to Masters Seoul.
VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027 Format: 12 Teams With Four Open Spots
VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027 will consist of eight partner teams and four non-partner teams. The partner organizations receive guaranteed entry to Kickoff, while the remaining teams must qualify through competition.
The four non-partner places are allocated across the following routes:
Korea Kickoff Qualifier: One place for a team qualifying through the Korean route.
Japan Kickoff Qualifier: One place for a team qualifying through the Japanese route.
SEA Kickoff Qualifier: One place for a team qualifying through the Southeast Asian route.
Kickoff Last Chance Qualifier: One final place contested by four teams from designated regional competitions.
This format gives teams outside the partner program a defined route into Pacific’s opening tournament. Instead of needing an invitation or an existing partnership with Riot Games, eligible teams can pursue qualification through the relevant competitive pathway.

The four open places also ensure that non-partner teams will account for one-third of the Kickoff field. Their presence creates opportunities for new challengers to face established organizations and compete for international qualification from the beginning of the season.
However, securing a place at Kickoff is only the first step. All 12 teams will compete for the same three Masters Seoul spots, regardless of whether they entered through the partner program or the Open Qualifiers.
VCT Pacific Kickoff LCQ: Four Teams, One Final Place
The Kickoff Last Chance Qualifier will determine the fourth and final non-partner participant at Kickoff.
Unlike the Korea, Japan, and SEA routes, which provide the three main regional qualification places, the LCQ brings together teams from different parts of the wider Pacific competitive ecosystem.
The four-team field will consist of:
Two teams from South Asia.
One team from Oceania.
The runner-up of the SEA Kickoff Playoffs.
These teams will compete for a single place at VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027. Only the winner will advance to the main event in Bangkok.

For South Asian and Oceanian teams, the LCQ offers a route into Kickoff despite the absence of a dedicated direct qualification place for their regions. The SEA runner-up, meanwhile, receives another opportunity after missing out on direct qualification.
The format also creates a high-stakes final stage for teams that have already progressed through their respective regional competitions. Reaching the LCQ gives them another chance, but they must still win the tournament to secure a place at Kickoff.
VCT Pacific Cups: A New Route to Masters Valencia and Champions Austin
While Kickoff serves as the opening tournament of the season, VCT Pacific Cup 1 and Cup 2 will replace the traditional Stage 1 and Stage 2 league structure in 2027.
These two separate tournaments will determine which Pacific teams advance to the season’s remaining international events: Masters Valencia and Champions Austin.
Cup 1 will take place in Manila, Philippines, while Cup 2 will be hosted in Tokyo, Japan. Both tournaments will feature 12 teams competing in LAN events, but their qualification systems will operate differently from Kickoff.
Unlike Kickoff, where all eight partner teams receive guaranteed entry, qualification for the Cups will depend on regional results. Teams must progress through Open Qualifiers, Play-ins, and regional Playoffs to earn a place in the main tournament. This means partner teams will also need to compete for qualification rather than relying on their partnership status.
How Teams Qualify for the Pacific Cups
Riot Games has established six regional pathways with direct qualification places for the Cups: Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Southeast Asia.
South Korea: Three places.
Japan: Three places.
Thailand: One place.
Indonesia: One place.
Vietnam: One place.
Southeast Asia: Two places.
Pacific Last Chance Qualifier: One additional place.
These routes provide opportunities for teams across the region to compete for entry into the Cups. The allocation also reflects Pacific’s wide geographical reach, allowing several local competitive communities to have their own qualification pathways.
South Asia and Oceania do not receive direct places in the Cups. Instead, teams from these regions can compete through the Pacific Last Chance Qualifier, which provides an additional route into the main tournament.
The Pacific Cup Last Chance Qualifier
The Pacific Cup Last Chance Qualifier is separate from the four-team LCQ used to determine the final participant at Kickoff.
The Cup LCQ will feature eight teams:
Five teams from SEA.
Two teams from South Asia.
One team from Oceania.
Three Masters Seoul Spots Will Decide Kickoff’s Biggest Stakes
VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027 will be the first major test for the region’s teams, with four non-partner teams earning their places through the November qualifiers. In Bangkok, they will face the eight partner organizations in a 12-team tournament where only the top three will advance to Masters Seoul.
With partner status no longer guaranteeing an international appearance, every team must prove its strength on the server. Kickoff will give established organizations a chance to reaffirm their position while offering emerging challengers an opportunity to make an early statement in the 2027 season.
