Skyesports Masters 2025 Cancelled as Organizer Shifts Focus to Tier-2 Esports

Skyesports Cancels Major CS2 Event Ahead of 2025 Season

In a surprising announcement, Skyesports has officially confirmed the cancellation of the Skyesports Masters 2025, one of India’s most anticipated international Counter-Strike 2 LAN events.

This decision comes just days after the company revealed plans for another international CS2 LAN — the Chennai Esports Global Championship (CEGC) — set to take place in November 2025.

Skyesports Masters 2025 Cancelled — And So Are 2026 Tier-1 Events

"Sometimes stepping back is the key to moving forward stronger. We’ve learned, adapted, and are building the future of Counter Strike2 from the ground up. Our full focus is now on the Chennai Esports Global Championship (CS2 and BGMI). One step at a time." ~CEO, Sky Esports, Shiva Nandy

Original Skyesports Masters 2025 Plans

The Skyesports Masters 2025 was set to be one of the biggest Counter-Strike tournaments ever held in India.

Here’s what was planned for the now-cancelled tournament:

  • Online Closed Qualifiers: October 13–20, 2025

  • Main Event Format: Play-Ins with two groups of four teams, followed by Playoffs

  • Prize Pool: $350,000 USD

The tournament was expected to attract international attention, bringing top global teams to compete on Indian soil — a major milestone for South Asian esports.

Chennai Esports Global Championship (CEGC) Still On

Skyesports has confirmed that it will still host one final LAN event in 2025 — the Chennai Esports Global Championship (CEGC).

The $50,000 Tier-2 CS2 tournament is open to teams from India, Southeast Asia, and Europe. It will feature open qualifiers in each region, with the top two teams from every qualifier advancing to the LAN playoffs in Chennai.

The CEGC is positioned as a bridge between Tier-2 and international-level competition, signaling Skyesports’ commitment to supporting mid-level teams and cultivating long-term growth within the ecosystem.

What’s Next for Skyesports?

While the cancellation of Skyesports Masters 2025 is a setback for India’s Tier-1 esports ambitions, it reflects a strategic pivot aimed at creating a more sustainable foundation for the region’s competitive scene.

With initiatives like the CEGC and expanded grassroots programs, Skyesports is doubling down on its mission to develop new talent and strengthen the country’s esports pipeline from the ground up.
