IT IS FINALLY HERE. Masters London 2026 has kicked off at the Copper Box Arena, and Day 1 of the Swiss Stage did not disappoint. Two matches. Two 2-0 sweeps. One absolutely ridiculous individual performance from a British player on home soil. Let's get into it.

NRG 2-0 Xi Lai Gaming — The keiko Show

Nobody told NRG this was supposed to be a warm-up match.

The reigning VALORANT World Champions came out swinging against China's second seed Xi Lai Gaming and made it very clear, very early, that they are here to defend their crown. The series ended 2-0, but the scoreline doesn't even begin to capture how dominant keiko was on the day.

60 kills. 29 deaths. 8 assists. Across two maps. A 1.85 rating, 370 ACS, and 230 ADR. On home soil, in front of a UK crowd, in VALORANT's first-ever major event on British soil. If you weren't already hyped for this tournament, you should be now.

Masters London 2026 is underway. NRG's keiko delivered a stunning home performance to beat Xi Lai Gaming, while Team Vitality swept Dragon Ranger Gaming on Day 1 of the Swiss Stage.

Pearl — 13-6 to NRG

NRG's map pick and it showed from the jump. After the Neon nerfs in patch 12.09 changed the meta overnight, both sides came in with fresh compositions. NRG simply slotted mada onto Waylay and keiko onto Vyse, keeping their double-drone identity alive. XLG went for a bolder change — swapping to double-Duelist with NoMan on Jett and Rarga on Phoenix.

It didn't pay off. NRG attacked with purpose, going 4-1 early as XLG's passive setups gave away space for free. XLG found some answers after a timeout and scrapped their way back into it, but NRG went into halftime ahead 7-5 and never looked back. The second half was a shutdown — NRG's defense was airtight, conceding just one round to close out Pearl 13-6. keiko? 26 kills. 352 ACS. Just getting warmed up.

Lotus — 13-11 to NRG (What a comeback)

XLG came back swinging on their own map pick and, honestly, they were cooking early. The triple-Sentinel composition — Cypher, Deadlock, and Sage all at once — completely baffled NRG in the opening rounds. Six rounds without dropping a single one, and only six deaths across the whole team. NRG looked genuinely lost.

They clawed back to 7-5 at the half, but XLG weren't done. They came out of halftime and ran it up to 11-5. At that point, most teams would have folded. NRG are not most teams.

keiko, already topfragging, somehow found another gear. Fourteen kills in the final eight rounds. Retake after retake, shutdown after shutdown, NRG dragged themselves all the way back from the brink to win 13-11. keiko's final Lotus stats? 34 kills. 388 ACS. 244 ADR. 1.97 rating. That is not a typo.

NRG move to 1-0. XLG drop to 0-1 and are now one loss from packing their bags.

Team Vitality 2-0 Dragon Ranger Gaming — Don't Sleep on EMEA

If the first match was a thriller, the second was a message. Team Vitality walked into their Swiss Stage opener against Dragon Ranger Gaming and made it look effortless — two maps, two dominant wins, and a very clear statement that EMEA's second seed is not here to just make up the numbers.

Both Chinese seeds going 0-2 on Day 1 is a serious conversation the VCT China region is going to need to have. But let's talk about what Vitality did right.

Lotus — 13-5 to Vitality

DRG set up with double-Sentinel — Chamber and Cypher — which on paper is a solid defensive framework. Vitality answered with double-Controller and Vyse and immediately looked the more composed side. They won the first pistol, converted the bonus, and were already dictating the pace.

DRG showed some fight after an eco win, but then Sayonara happened. First ace of the entire tournament — right there, round three of Masters London. That set the tone perfectly. Derke and Sayonara both started hot, and though DRG kept it respectable at 8-4 heading into the second half, Vitality never truly let them feel comfortable. A Jamppi ace clutch on the bonus in the second half put the final nail in the coffin several rounds early. Lotus closed out 13-5 — clean, professional, dominant.

Breeze — 13-4 to Vitality

DRG came into Map 2 with a tweaked setup, keeping Life on Chamber and adding double-Controller. Vitality ran double-Controller with Harbor and double-Initiator — a comp that gave them consistent map control from start to finish.

DRG earned a tiny early advantage but couldn't hold it, losing the pistol and falling behind almost immediately. They burned both tactical pauses trying to stop the bleeding and at least avoided the full shutout, winning the final three rounds of the half to go in down 9-3. Small victories.

The second half removed any suspense. Chronicle opened with an absolute 1v2 clutch on the pistol, and Derke sealed it with an ace as Vitality wrapped up Breeze 13-4 and the series 2-0.

Vitality are in the 1-0 pool and looking dangerous. DRG drop to 0-1 and need to win every single remaining Swiss Stage match just to make Playoffs. That is a brutal position to be in after Day 1.

The second half was equally one-sided. Chronicle opened with a 1v2 clutch on the pistol to push Vitality into double digits, and Derke sealed the deal with an ace as Vitality closed out Breeze 13-4 to complete the sweep.

Vitality move to 1-0 and push toward Playoff qualification. DRG drop to 0-1 — their margin for error is gone, and they need to win every remaining Swiss Stage match to survive.

The Big Takeaways from Day 1

Three things are clear after Day 1 of Masters London 2026.

First — NRG came to defend their title, and keiko is the form player of the tournament right now. Watch out.

Second — Team Vitality look like a completely different beast compared to their Stage 1 inconsistencies. If they maintain this level, they could go very deep.

Third — China has a serious problem at international events. Both XLG and DRG were swept without winning a single map between them on Day 1. EDward Gaming avoided the Swiss Stage entirely as Stage 1 winners, so the pressure is entirely on XLG and DRG to prove the region can compete. Right now, the signs aren't great.

Day 2 continues on Sunday, June 7, with FULL SENSE vs FUT Esports kicking off at 15:00 BST, followed by Leviatán vs Global Esports at 18:00 BST. Don't miss it.
