If there is one esports event that is the talk of the town, it is the VALORANT Champions Tour 2025: Masters Toronto. With the conclusion of day 3, Gen.G and Sentinels have secured qualifications for the playoffs phase of the tournament. In this article, let's look at what went down during day 3 of the event.

Gen.G and Sentinels Power Through Their Way Into The Playoffs

Sentinels qualified for the VCT 2025: Masters Toronto playoffs

Going into matchday 3, the stakes were high. The team that wins their matches secures qualification to the playoffs stage of the event. Already, the winners from each of the four regional leagues' Stage One event have secured qualification for the playoffs.

The first match of the night was between Sentinels and Bilibili Gaming. In our preview article, we stated one condition that needed to be met. On Map One, if Bilibili started the attack, they would have a much higher chance of winning the series. Well, Bilibili began to map 1 (Icebox) on attack and won with a scoreline of 13-8. This was, in the eyes of many, a shocker of a result (not to us).

In the same preview, one point was stated about Sentinels: they have a comeback mentality. Well, they did showcase that same mentality by securing the reverse sweep and securing their spot in the playoffs. During this series, it felt like Zekken was in a flow state. He ended the game with a KDA of 56/38/13. At the same time, he secured 15 first bloods during the series and an incredible headshot percentage of 30%. With that victory, Sentinels joins their rivals in G2 Esports in the playoffs. At the same time, Bilibili Gaming will have one more opportunity to secure a spot in the playoffs.

Gen.G Shut Down Paper Rex!

The second match of the night was between Gen.G and Paper Rex. Since the start of the event, many wondered how the new Paper Rex team would perform against Gen.G. The answer? History would repeat itself. In 2024, these teams faced off during the VALORANT Masters Bangkok. During that match, Gen.G won the series in a clean sweep, scoring 2-0. In 2025, during VALORANT Masters Toronto, Gen.G defeated Paper Rex with a scoreline of 2-0.

Map 1 was played on Ascent and featured some of the best moments seen in the tournament so far. Sadly, Karon stopped t3xture from getting an ACE, and his reaction was priceless. Map 2 was played on Icebox, and it was a one-sided affair. Gen.G won the map with a score of 13-3. While Jinggg tried, the star of the match was none other than Mr. 4k t3xture. During the series, he secured 12 first bloods and a KDA of 45/25/3.

With this result, all three former VALORANT Masters Winners in FNATIC, Gen.G, and Sentinels have secured their spots in the playoffs. Only time will tell if we get to see one of them add another Masters trophy to their cabinet.
