VCT 2025: Masters Toronto Day 2 Recap: Gen.G Shuts Down MIBR

Before the Gen.G MIBR faceoff, we got to see Sentinels take on Wolves Esports. Wolves Esports are playing their first international event, whereas Sentinels are looking forward to winning their third Masters event. On map one, they were down 8-4 but showed resistance and made a comeback to win the series with a 2-0 scoreline. It must be stated that this match was closer than many believed it would be.
If there were one game VALORANT fans were excited for since the fixtures of the Swiss Stage were announced, it would have been Gen.G vs MIBR. Gen.G is one of only three teams in the current VALORANT Masters lineup to have previously won a Masters trophy. Going into this event, they were one team to watch out for due to their incredible duelist in t3xture. Following the fixtures announcement, everyone awaited the faceoff between t3xture and Aspas.
Aspas has been a crucial part of the rebuild journey for the Brazilian team MIBR. During the VCT 2025 circuit, he helped MIBR finish 3rd in both VCT Americas Kickoff and Stage One. While everyone wanted to see a faceoff between the best duelists, many felt that the game would be one-sided. Well, they weren't wrong.
Gen.G put their feet on the gas and didn't stop during map 1. Winning the first six rounds on defence with ease. Following the conclusion of the first half, Gen.G were 9-3 up. During this time, MIBR could only plant the spike once, which proved that Gen.G had the defence on lockdown. Gen.G continued this dominance on attack, winning the first map with a score of 13-5.
Game 2 Was Just A Bloodbath

After seeing map one, fans felt that this would have been the end of the blood bath, but they were wrong. Gen.G dominated MIBR on their map pick of Haven in game 2. Gen.G won the game with a score of 13-1. MIBR couldn't do anything against the defence of Gen.G. During this series, t3xture stole the show, ending the series with a KDA of 35/17/9. He secured 10 first bloods, but he was never the first player from his team to die. Following this match, the draw for the second matches of the Swiss Stage will take place.
