After a week-long battle between 16 teams in Shanghai, China, XO defeated ATOX in the finals to win the ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS Asia Open 2024. XO qualified for the tournament via the Saudi Arabia qualifiers, featuring a mammoth prize pool of $100,000. The Saudi Arabian team asserted sheer dominance throughout the tournament and maintained momentum in the playoffs, where they defeated Chinese giants Rare Atom and Mongolian favourites, Chinggis Warriors. XO entered the ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS Asia Open 2024 via the Saudi Arabia qualifiers and joined Real Original, Blaze Warriors, and Fated Rise in the group stages. The group stage followed a Swiss format, where the first two teams to win two matches to qualify for the playoffs, and all the matches were best-of-one. In the group stages, they went against Real Original and Fated Rise and defeated both teams with a 13-3 scoreline to qualify for the quarter-finals as the first seed.
Playoffs followed the single-elimination bracket system, with each match being a best-of-three game. In the quarter-finals, XO matched against Chinggis Warriors. XO started strong by winning the first map of Inferno with a 13-10 scoreline. Chinggis Warriors bounced back and equalised the map points by winning Ancient, making XO’s first map loss in the tournament. XO didn’t let the loss hinder them and defeated Chinggis Warriors on the decided map of Anubis with a 13-5 scoreline.
After defeating the Chinggis Warriors, XO met Rare Atom in the semi-finals. XO continued their domination and won the maps of Dust2 and Inferno with 13-5 and 13-4 scorelines, respectively, to advance to the grand finals. In the finals, XO met the winners of the MESA Pro Series Fall 2024 Stage 2, ATOX. While the Mongolian giants looked strong, they couldn’t match XO’s strength. XO defeated ATOX on Inferno and Anubis with 13-9 and 13-10 scorelines, respectively, to win the ZOWIE eXTREMESLAND CS Asia Open 2024 and grab the prize of $40,000.
