When the 12 teams were confirmed for VALORANT Masters Toronto, no one saw Wolves as one of the good teams. Due to this being their first event, many put them in the last spot. A significant reason for this was their first-round fixture with Sentinels. During that match, we saw the team employ some interesting strategies that enabled them to dominate on attack. But on defence, we saw the team crumble and fall like a pack of cards.

Fast forward to the playoff stage, and everyone is cheering on Wolves Esports. They comfortably defeated the first seed from VCT Pacific RRQ. It was a clean sweep 2-0 victory for Wolves Esports in their run for glory. Their next opponents were the team that many considered the favourites: Gen.G. Gen.G had just come off a flawless run in the Swiss Stage and crushed FNATIC 2-0.

Wolves Esports went on to defeat Gen.G 2-0. While this scoreline would mean that it was a one-sided affair, which it wasn’t. On Map 1, Gen.G was leading 9-3. In the second half, the score reached 11-6 in favour of Gen.G. This is when SiuFatBB showcased his IGL skills. Cheering on his team, he helped them come back and secure the map 13-11.

Map 2 was a similar story. Gen.G was leading the first half with a scoreline of 8-4. Wolves Esports on attack was another beast to deal with. They won 8 rounds in a row, taking the score from 5-9 to 13-9. The final round consisted of one of the best clutches seen in VALORANT Esports. SiuFatBB secured the win with less than 10 HP. With this win, Wolves Esports secured a spot in the Upper Bracket Finals of VALORANT Masters Toronto.

The second match of the day was between Setinels and Paper Rex. In the eyes of many, these two teams have some of the biggest fan bases in the world. According to Riot Games, during the 2024 season, Paper Rex and Sentinels had sold the most team capsules within the game. Before the face off, many hoped to see a 3 match classic during this series, but that wasn’t the case.

During this series, Paper Rex showed that W Gaming isn’t just about firepower; it is also about sheer fundamentals. During each round of attack, we could see the team play like a unit, securing trades when possible. Paper Rex demolished Sentinels on map 1 with a score of 13-3.

Map 2 started quite differently with Sentinels taking the lead 7-5 on their defensive half. When Paper Rex played defence, they shut down Sentinels. On the final round, f0rsakeN secured a ninja diffuse to ensure the clutch during the victory. With this, both former VALORANT Masters winners Gen.G and Sentinels will now play in the lower bracket of the playoffs. Below is the next set of fixtures for VALORANT Masters Toronto:
