Team Secret Whales Fall to Movistar KOI, Eliminated from Worlds 2025

After a short break, the action resumed at the biggest League of Legends event of the year, delivering both an elimination and a qualification to the next stage. Team Secret Whales fell 2-1 to Movistar KOI, becoming the second LPC representative to be eliminated from the Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage.
The October 23 matchday marked the start of the 1-2 pool, where one more loss meant the end of the road. Movistar KOI and Team Secret Whales opened the day with a tense best-of-three series — and it was the European squad who ultimately came out on top to keep their Worlds dreams alive.
Movistar KOI Come Back to Eliminate Team Secret Whales
As expected from both teams’ aggressive playstyles, the series delivered plenty of early skirmishes. Despite a strong start from Movistar KOI, led by Javier “Elyoya” Prades, who picked up early kills, Team Secret Whales quickly turned the tables.
Capitalizing on KOI’s bot-lane mistakes, TSW built up a commanding gold lead and secured every neutral objective. Hoàng “Eddie” Công Nghĩa’s Yone spearheaded the assault, closing out Game 1 in 35 minutes with a 10,000 gold advantage.
In Game 2, Team Secret Whales drafted a power-pick composition with Caitlyn and Neeko, granting them strong early control. However, Movistar KOI remained composed, waiting for their late-game scaling to kick in.Crucial pickoffs by Elyoya and Álvaro “Alvaro” Fernández swung the momentum, and with Baron Nashor secured, Joseph Joon “Jojopyun” Pyun led a decisive push through mid to level the series.
For Game 3, Team Secret Whales made a surprising adjustment, subbing out Nguyễn “Pun” Đăng Kho for Trần “Hiro02” Lê Trung in the top lane. Unfortunately, the change didn’t pay off — Movistar KOI relentlessly targeted the substitute and dominated every teamfight.With Elyoya and Jojopyun leading the charge, KOI maintained control from start to finish. In a desperate final attempt, TSW went for Baron Nashor, but were wiped clean in the ensuing fight. Movistar KOI closed the series in 30 minutes, holding a gold lead of over 10,000 to secure their spot in the next round.
Gen.G Dominates TOP Esports to Advance to the Knockout Stage
The day concluded with a clash between Gen.G and TOP Esports, where the Korean powerhouse once again demonstrated their signature precision.The LCK champions executed their methodical, macro-driven playstyle to perfection, sweeping the series 2-0 and becoming the first team to lock in a spot in the Knockout Stage of Worlds 2025.
Movistar KOI Still Fighting for Knockout Stage Qualification
With their victory, Movistar KOI move into the 2-2 pool, now just one win away from qualifying for the Knockout Stage.The Spanish squad will return to action on October 25, when the final matches will determine the last playoff spots for the League of Legends World Championship.
The action continues on October 24 with crucial matchups featuring T1, 100 Thieves, Bilibili Gaming, and Vivo Keyd Stars, where two more teams will face elimination from Worlds 2025.
