Meteor has officially announced the disbandment of its women's Valorant roster, bringing their run in the professional scene to a close after more than a year of competition. The announcement came a few days after the team secured a third-place finish in Valorant Game Changers Japan 2025 Split 2.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Meteor said the decision came "as part of a restructuring of the team's competitive division." With that, the organisation has shut down its Game Changers project and released the full roster, allowing players to explore new offers.

Meteor's CEO said the decision came after careful consideration, as the organisation reconsiders the future of its competitive division. The roster made waves in early 2024 by qualifying for the main stage of Game Changers Japan just a month after being formed. After coming within one win of qualifying for VCT Game Changers Pacific, the project officially comes to a close.

Competitive performance in Game Changers Japan 2025

Throughout the 2025 season, Meteor proved itself as a strong contender in Japan's GC scene, holding its own against top-tier teams. In Split 2, they picked up key wins over DRX Changers and Sasanqua before falling 1–2 to REIGNITE Lily in a close series that ended their run in the tournament.

Meteor delivered a strong showing throughout the tournament, backed by standout stats across both stages. In the open qualifier, the team went undefeated in their group with a +44 round differential, dominating the early phase with confidence. In the main event, Dia and Daf stood out as two of the most impactful players in the tournament.

Community Reaction And Future Of The Organisation

The announcement sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with many fans expressing their disappointment over the team's disbandment. Despite the roster's exit, Meteor will continue operating as the organisation explores new directions within the esports space.
