The League of Legends European Championship season concluded on September 28 with the clash between the two best teams of the year, crowning the Summer Split champion. G2 Esports maintained their regional dominance with a 3-0 sweep over Movistar KOI in the LEC Grand Finals.

What was expected to be a close series, especially after G2 defeated KOI 3-1 in the upper bracket final, turned into a one-sided performance. The "Samurais" capitalised on KOI's mistakes and silenced the Spanish organisation in front of thousands of fans at the Caja Mágica in Madrid, Spain.

From the opening game, G2 Esports showed superiority starting in the draft phase, denying Movistar KOI's engage options. Although Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun secured first blood, the "Samurais" executed better rotations and picks, while KOI struggled with repeated mistakes, taking unfavourable fights that widened the gold gap. Led by Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan, G2 closed out the first map to take a 1-0 lead.

In the second game, Movistar KOI tried to force plays early, looking for picks in the side lanes to give their carries an advantage. The Samurais quickly took control, punishing the Spanish squad's positioning mistakes. Despite Alex "Myrwn" Pastor's efforts on K'Sante to keep his team in the game, the Koi overextended for a top tier-two turret, a failed attempt that cost them four kills and Baron Nashor. With the gold lead out of reach, G2 closed the game in 35 minutes to move to match point.

The Karma pick for Labrov was decisive, giving G2 Esports an early lead after Javier "Elyoya" Prades's failed attempt to defend his Red Buff resulted in two quick kills. Desperate to stay in the game, the Koi forced plays across the map but made costly mistakes that the Samurais punished to extend their gold advantage. In under 30 minutes, G2 closed the series with a lead of more than 10,000 gold, securing another LEC title.

G2 Esports Back On Top In The LEC 2025 Grand Finals

With this victory, G2 Esports reclaimed the top spot in the LEC and silenced any doubts about the strength of their new project, following the arrivals of SkewMond and Labrov for the 2025 season. The jungler was named Finals MVP for his standout performance throughout the series. They will head to Worlds 2025 as Europe's first seed, while Movistar KOI and Fnatic complete the region's representatives at the League of Legends World Championship.
