Chinese esports organization XLG has officially parted ways with Zhang "Midi" Jiajun, marking the end of the player’s tenure with the team after their recent participation at VCT Masters Toronto.

The decision was reportedly made as a mutual agreement between the two parties, with XLG citing "full respect for the player's wishes" in its official statement, released on the Chinese social media platform Weibo. Midi’s departure comes at a time when many teams across the region are undergoing roster adjustments ahead of the second stage of the 2025 VCT season.

Midi joined XLG during a pivotal period for the organization and played an instrumental role in its progress throughout the early stages of the year. Known for his flexible playstyle and composed in-game decision-making, Midi helped XLG qualify for several domestic and international tournaments, including their recent appearance at Masters Toronto—their debut on the international LAN stage.

While XLG did not make it far in the tournament, the experience marked a key milestone for the roster. Midi's performance, particularly in high-pressure situations, stood out and earned praise from the Chinese Valorant community. His efforts were seen as one of the bright spots in an otherwise short-lived run at the Masters event.

With his departure, XLG is expected to undergo roster changes in preparation for VCT CN Stage 2, which is scheduled to begin later this summer. The team has not yet announced a replacement.

As for Midi, his future remains uncertain, but given his experience and proven capabilities, it is likely that he will return to the server soon. Whether this is within China’s flourishing Valorant ecosystem or elsewhere remains to be seen.

At the time of writing, the XLG Roster is as follows:

  • Arthur "Rarga" Churyumov

  • Teng "happywei" Min-wei

  • Colin "coconut" Chung

  • Ran "Viva" Lifan

  • Zhuo "MarT1n" Zhengjie (Inactive)

Staff:

  • Aleksandr "hvoya" Eremin (Head Coach)

  • Arian "Arianxx" Irfan (Assistant Coach)
