VCT Americas Week 1 Recap

VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff has started in style at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles. In week 1 of the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff, the twelve partner teams went against each other across eight matches. At the end of the first week, four teams, LOUD, Sentinels, G2 Esports, and Leviatan, qualified for the upper semifinals, while the rest of the eight teams will continue their Kickoff journey in the lower bracket.


The top two teams of the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff will fly to Bangkok, Thailand, and join six other partner teams worldwide for the VCT 2025: Masters Bangkok. The teams at the third and fourth positions will earn circuit points, which will play a crucial role in their Champions 2025 qualification. 


Sentinels Defeated 100 Thieves In Their First Game Of The VCT 2025: Americas:

The first week of the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff featured four days of Valorant action across eight matches. All the matches were a best-of-three games. On the first day, Evil Geniuses went against the Brazilian giants, LOUD. With the arrival of yay, it seemed Evil Geniuses could overwhelm the young guns of LOUD. While EG started strong in the first map, they couldn’t consolidate their advantages, resulting in losing the map of Split with a 14-12 scoreline. LOUD carried their momentum in the second map of Pearl to win the game with a 13-10 scoreline and advance to the upper quarterfinals. 


The second game featured another North and South American rivalry, 100 Thieves vs MIBR. 100 Thieves looked merciless from the start and took no time to win the first game on Pearl with a 13-4 scoreline. MIBR bounced back on Bind by taking the lead in the first half, but couldn’t convert the game, resulting in a 13-9 defeat and 100 Thieves’ advancement to the upper quarterfinals. 


On day two of the Kickoff, NRG Esports went against Cloud9, and 2Game Esports took on FURIA in the final game of the first round. Cloud9 started strong on the first map but struggled to close the map early, resulting in overtime. Despite the efforts from NRG, C9 won the first map with a 14-12 scoreline, followed by a comfortable 13-10 victory on the map of Lotus. In the day’s final game, FURIA demolished the newcomers, 2Game Esports. FURIA defeated 2Game Esports on Haven and Lotus with 13-7, and 13-5 scorelines, respectively.


After the first four matches, the winning teams had to play another game against the higher-seeded teams in the upper quarterfinals, whereas the losing teams were pushed into the lower bracket. On the third day, KRU Esports went against LOUD, followed by an intense matchup between 100 Thieves and Sentinels. LOUD continued to dominate and defeated KRU Esports with 13-7 and 13-10 scorelines, on Haven and Split, respectively. 


After LOUD’s victory, it was time for the highly anticipated game of the Kickoff, 100 Thieves vs Sentinels. It seemed 100 Thieves carried their winning momentum from the first round as they won the map of Split with a 13-4 scoreline. Sentinels retaliated and equalised the points by winning Bind with a 13-9 scoreline, followed by a comprehensive 13-9 win on Pearl. On the final day, the higher-seeded team showed their domination as G2 Esports took down Cloud9 with ease to advance to the upper semifinals. Leviatan displayed why they are the top Latin American team by defeating FURIA with a clean 2-0 scoreline.
