In our preview for the fifth day of VALORANT Masters Toronto, we predicted that this game has the potential to be great with two teams that have won gold in regional events yet to win one during an international tournament. We had made a prediction that some maps would go to overtime, and well, that came true.

Map 1 was played on Split, and the storyline for the series was set in stone. This series wasn’t about Team Liquid making a comeback, but rather whether Paper Rex finishes the job. During the first half, Paper Rex started strong on defence. Ending the half with a score of 8-4. They continued this form on attack, taking the score to 12-8. This is where the narrative began because Paper Rex lost four rounds in a row, taking the game to overtime. During overtime, Team Liquid made the most of the momentum and stole the victory 15-13.

Map 2 was simply the Paper Rex show. From the get-go, the team went all out on attack. Out of the seven rounds that Paper Rex won, six were won by killing TL in duels rather than letting the spike detonate. On defence, we saw a similar story; Paper Rex won six rounds in a row, taking us to Map 3.

Map 3 Was Pure Cinema

Map 3 was one game of VALORANT Esports that one had to have watched live. The reason is to go through the roller coaster of emotions that one is bound to go through. On defence, Paper Rex shut Team Liquid down 11-1. All Paper Rex needed to do was to win two rounds on attack, but they couldn’t do that.

TL kamo picked Waylay on this map, which was the first time the new agent was picked during VALORANT Masters Toronto. It felt like kamo had gone into flow state. On defence, he had a KDA of 18/9/1, which includes one ACE. With kamo, Team Liquid won 11 rounds on defence and took the game to overtime.

During this time, we could see the fatigue kick in the players. PRX f0rsakeN felt like his energy was out. However, this fatigue was also observed on TL paTiTek. During round 25, he had a clean shot on f0rsakeN to seal the round win, but he missed his shot. This results in f0rsakeN taking the shot and winning the round. In the next round, there was a 5v5 faceoff on A site between TL and PRX. PRX came out on top and secured the win. Following the win, we could see f0rsakeN collapse on his chair due to exhaustion.

Following the match, the draw for the first round of the playoffs took place. Below is a list of the upcoming playoff fixtures:
