The BGMI esports ecosystem is under fire, with Orangutan Esports founder Yash Bhanushali publicly calling out Krafton’s strict sponsorship policies. In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Bhanushali labeled the publisher’s approach “absolutely unacceptable and unethical.”
“Almost every team or organization is incurring heavy losses since the past four years,” he stated. “Even after having more than five sponsors, we are barely able to recoup our monthly wage bill.”
Bhanushali accused Krafton of prioritizing its own financial interests while blocking teams from securing essential funding. “It is outright selfishness from the publisher to just think about their commitments but not letting orgs like us fulfill ours.”

Despite Orangutan’s two-year commitment to BGMI esports, Bhanushali revealed that they have not received any response from Krafton, leaving their BGIS participation in limbo.
“We are hoping for an amicable solution, but we have not heard back from the publisher,” he said. “Hope things change… but our hands are tied due to such stringent and selfish rules.”

With teams struggling financially, the future of BGMI esports hangs in the balance. Will Krafton address these concerns, or will more organizations be forced to step away?
