After four weeks of intense Valorant action at the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff, G2 Esports defeated Sentinels in the grand finals to crown themselves as the Americas champion. With their victory, G2 Esports won 3 VCT circuit points and qualified for the VCT 2025: Masters Bangkok. Sentinels will join them in Bangkok as the second Americas team.
G2 Esports entered the tournament as the higher-seeded team and remained consistent throughout the event. They had not lost a single map until the finals, where they defeated Sentinels with a 3-2 scoreline. G2’s journey started in the second round against Cloud9, where they defeated C9 with a clean 2-0 scoreline. In the upper semifinals, G2 Esports went against LEVIATAN, where G2 decimated the South American giant and advanced to the upper finals.
To qualify for the finals and VCT 2025: Masters Bangkok, G2 Esports had to defeat Sentinels in the upper finals. Except for G2 Esports, Sentinels was the only undefeated team in the league. G2 broke Sentinels' winning streak by demolishing them in the upper finals. G2 Esports defeated Sentinels with a 2-0 scoreline to become the first Americas team to qualify for the VCT 2025: Masters Bangkok.
After the defeat, Sentinels went against MIBR in the lower finals in the best-of-five matchup. Sentinels started strong and won the first two maps without breaking any sweat. MIBR bounced back in the third map to get their first map point, but Sentinels didn’t let it affect them. Sentinels defeated MIBR in the fourth map to advance into the finals and become the second Americas team to qualify for the VCT 2025: Masters Bangkok.
The grand finals of the Valorant Champions Tour 2025: Americas Kickoff was going to be about either Sentinels’ revenge or G2 Esports domination in the Americas circuit. Sentinels started their finals script strong with a 13-4 win on the first map of Split. G2 Esports followed up by knocking down Sentinels on Pearl with a 13-8 scoreline. With scores equalised, Sentinels clinched the map of Abyss (13-9) to grab the lead. With a do-or-die situation, G2 Esports showed their true power on the fourth map of Fracture, where they decimated Sentinels with a 13-5 scoreline.
Haven was the decider map of the tournament, and G2 Esports started strong, resulting in a 9-3 lead after the first half. Sentinels gave their all in the second half, but it was not enough. G2 Esports won the decider map with a 13-10 scoreline and emerged as the champions of the VCT 2025: Americas Kickoff. With their victory, G2 Esports grabbed 3 VCT circuit points and the glorious Americas Kickoff trophy. Trent emerged as the MVP of the finals with a KDA of 80/62/21. G2 Esports and Sentinels will fly to Thailand for the first Masters' event of 2025 and compete against the other six teams from China, Pacific and EMEA from 20 February 2025.
