The action at the biggest event of the professional Valorant season continued with the final days of the group stage, which saw more teams eliminated from contention. Xi Lai Gaming (XLG Esports) fell to Giantx, leaving VCT China without representatives in the next stage of VALORANT Champions Paris 2025.

On September 21, VALORANT Champions Paris 2025 continued its group stage with elimination matches where the losing teams saw their season come to an end. After reigning champion EDward Gaming fell to Team Liquid and Dragon Ranger Gaming was knocked out by G2 Esports, XLG remained the only representative from VCT China still carrying the region’s hopes of defending the title.

XLG Esports opened the series on Bind with an aggressive attack that secured an 8-4 lead at halftime. After the side switch, Giantx clawed back, starting with the pistol round. Although the Chinese team reached map point, the Spanish squad forced overtime, where Eduard “Ara” Hanceriuc proved decisive in the comeback to deliver the first victory.

On Ascent, XLG once again took the first half, this time on defence, with James “NoMan” Man shutting down early attacks to secure a 7-5 lead at the side switch. After halftime, the European squad seized control from the opening rounds, with Ara’s Jett playing a pivotal role as Giantx closed the map 13-10 and sealed the series, eliminating China from the next stage of VALORANT Champions Paris 2025.

VCT China exits VALORANT Champions Paris with just one win

With XLG’s elimination, China bowed out of VALORANT Champions Paris 2025 after securing only a single victory throughout the tournament. The showing stood in stark contrast to last year’s edition, when the region not only sent two teams to the playoffs but also claimed the title with EDward Gaming’s 3-2 triumph over Team Heretics in the grand final.

The poor results leave VCT China at the bottom of the Global Power Rankings with 1,328 points across the season. In comparison, VCT Pacific leads the standings at 1,480 points, driven by strong performances from Paper Rex and DRX, both of which have already advanced to the playoffs.

VALORANT Champions Paris 2025 continues on September 22 with the final group stage matches, as Rex Regum Qeon and T1 fight for the remaining playoff spots. Fans can follow the action live on the official VALORANT Champions Tour channels on YouTube and Twitch.
