The EWC ALGS: 2025 Midseason Playoffs delivered one of the most memorable Apex Legends tournaments to date, featuring regional rivalries, breakout performances, and a dramatic Grand Finals finish that saw VK Gaming from APAC-South rise above some of the world’s biggest names to claim the crown.
EWC ALGS 2025 Midseason Playoffs Recap

Pool Play Recap - Regional Power Balance Shifts
The event kicked off with two days of Pool Play, where 40 teams clashed to earn one of 14 direct spots in the Grand Finals. In Pool 1, TSM bounced back from a slow start to finish in first with 117 points, followed by Team Falcons and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Despite a rocky beginning, Fnatic climbed to fourth while regional contenders like AG.AL, Sentinels, and Shopify Rebellion secured Last Chance spots.
Pool 2 was headlined by a dominating performance from Alliance, who dropped a tournament-high 135 points, showing unmatched mechanical skill and rotation control. 100 Thieves and ROC Esports followed closely, while VK Gaming finished sixth, quietly qualifying for the Finals.
However, not all teams survived the opening stage. UNLIMIT, SBI e-Sports, FUSION (Pool 1), and KOI, EDward Gaming, Zero Tenacity (Pool 2) were eliminated after finishing in the bottom three in their respective groups.
Last Chance Stage - Clutch or Go Home
With 20 teams fighting for the last six Finals tickets, the Last Chance stage was a brutal proving ground. Gen.G Esports led the charge with 95 points, closely followed by Sentinels and Team Liquid, both tying at 87. FURIA bounced back into form with 80 points, while Team Nemesis and ENTER FORCE.36 clinched the final two qualifying slots.
Big names like NRG, Twisted Minds, and AG.AL came agonizingly close but narrowly missed out. Teams like Shopify Rebellion, Crazy Raccoon, and MOUZ failed to find rhythm and were eliminated, reinforcing how unforgiving the ALGS format truly is.
Grand Finals - VK Gaming’s Defining Moment
The Grand Finals saw VK Gaming rise to the occasion. With 96 total points, they won Match Point in Game 6 and locked in the championship in Game 9 with a 13-kill statement victory. Their composure, zone control, and timing made them deserving champions on the biggest stage yet, proving that China is becoming a force in global Apex Legends Esports.
ROC Esports placed second with 87 points. Ninjas in Pyjamas (85 points) continued their consistent form, finishing third, while Gen.G rounded out the top four with 74 points despite not claiming a single game win.
Meanwhile, heavyweights like 100 Thieves, Alliance, Fnatic, and TSM fell short of expectations. The Finals served as a clear sign that the international Apex Legends scene is more competitive than ever, with no single region guaranteeing dominance.
Looking Ahead
VK Gaming’s victory not only cements their place in Apex history but also sets the tone for the 2025 ALGS Championship. As regions like APAC continue to close the gap with North America and EMEA, one thing is clear: the global Apex Legends scene has never been this competitive, and the next chapter is just getting started.
