Riot Games has partnered with the Esports World Cup (EWC) Foundation to bring its major esports titles, VALORANT, League of Legends, and Teamfight Tactics, to the 2025 summer tournament. This partnership also introduces in-broadcast activations during Riot esports events, including the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT), LoL Esports, and the TFT competitive circuit.

The inaugural Esports World Cup in 2024 was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, spanning eight weeks and featuring numerous titles under the Club Support program. The event boasted a prize pool exceeding $60 million, and its return in 2025 promises an even greater spectacle with Riot’s increased presence.
For the first time, VALORANT will join LoL and TFT as featured competitions at the Esports World Cup, solidifying Riot’s footprint at the event. Beyond tournaments, the partnership includes a global commercial collaboration, starting with VCT Masters Bangkok on February 20, 2025. The EWC will have in-broadcast activations integrated into LoL, VALORANT, and TFT’s major LAN events.
Fabian Scheuermann, Chief Games Officer of the Esports World Cup Foundation, highlighted Riot’s transformative influence on esports, stating:
“Riot Games has shaped the cultural impact of competitive gaming, transforming esports into a global entertainment force. With League of Legends’ iconic World Championship, VALORANT’s cultural collaborations, and Teamfight Tactics’ community-driven events, Riot has pioneered an ecosystem far beyond competition. By bringing these titles to the Esports World Cup, we are not just celebrating elite gameplay – we are, together, expanding esports as a global entertainment movement, creating deeper connections with fans across gaming, music, and digital culture.”
The VALORANT Champions tournament, the highlight of the annual VCT calendar, is scheduled for September 12 to October 5, 2025, just weeks after the EWC. Meanwhile, LoL Worlds 2025 is expected to take place in China across October and November, shortly following the World Cup.
As of now, the dates for the 2025 Esports World Cup have not been announced. However, the inclusion of Riot’s titles positions the event as a major celebration of global esports talent and culture.
