Bilibili Gaming sends G2 Esports home in Group A

Day 2 of the group stage kicked off Wednesday, July 9, with a best-of-three series between Bilibili Gaming and G2 Esports in Group A. The match began on Sunset, where the Chinese side took control early with a dominant attacking half, leading 10-2 at the side switch. After the break, the VCT Americas Stage 1 champion managed to take only one more round, falling 13-3.

G2 Esports struck back on Pearl, dominating the first half of the map with a 9-3 lead. After the side switch, the Samurai squad closed out the game by conceding just one more round, tying the series with a 13-4 win. The decider was played on Icebox, the most competitive map of the series. Bilibili Gaming managed to recover and turned the game around to secure a 13-11 victory.

Sentinels win Group B Elimination Match against XLG Esports

Sentinels eliminated XLG Esports in a tightly contested series that started on Lotus, the Europeans’ map pick. After a balanced first half, the North American side pulled ahead on defence to close out the opener 13-9. On Sunset, XLG responded with a 13-8 win to even the series.

The series concluded on Haven, where Sentinels gained an early lead starting with the pistol round. The North American squad held firm on defence, going into halftime with an 8-4 advantage. After the side switch, XLG Esports managed to close the gap by winning a few rounds, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide. Sentinels took the map 13-9, eliminating XLG as the first team out of Group B.

EDward Gaming Eliminated 100 Thieves in Group D

100 Thieves were eliminated from the 2025 Valorant Esports World Cup group stage after falling 2-1 to EDward Gaming. The North American squad took an early lead on the global scoreboard with a 13-11 win on Haven, but the Chinese side responded with a 13-7 victory on Sunset to force a third map.

Ascent was the final map of the series, where EDward Gaming gained a slight edge on attack and closed out the first half with a 7-5 lead. Although 100 Thieves narrowed the gap in their offensive half, it wasn’t enough to overcome the reigning world champion, who secured the win in Group D.

Heretics stay alive with a comeback win in Group C

The day ended with the Group C elimination match between Team Heretics and Titan Esports Club. On Icebox, the Chinese team went ahead in the series with a 13-10 win. Heretics responded on Haven with a 14-12 victory in overtime to force a third map.

After their comeback in the previous map, Team Heretics took control of Sunset, building an 8-4 lead on attack in the first half. After the side switch, Titan Esports Club won a few rounds but couldn’t shift the momentum. Heretics closed out the match with a 13-6 win.

Final Day of the Group Stage Set for July 10
