In what can only be described as a monumental day for Asian Counter-Strike, The MongolZ have lifted their first tier-1 trophy, and it's none other than the Esports World Cup 2025 title. Taking down the world #1 in Team Vitality once again, The MongolZ have squashed all doubt of a fluke on their way to the trophy. They walk away with $500,000, 1,000 Club Points, and a huge boost to their VRS ranking ahead of the next major. Here's how The MongolZ conquered all.
The MongolZ Clean Sweep Aurora 3-0 at the Esports World Cup 2025 CS2 Grand Finals

On their path to the Grand Final, The MongolZ took down GamerLegion, 3DMAX, and Team Vitality. Meanwhile, Aurora dispatched FaZe Clan, HEROIC, and Team Falcons to set up their game against The MongolZ. As a best-of-five series, here's how the map veto went:
Mirage (The MongolZ's pick)
Dust2 (Aurora's pick)
Nuke (The MongolZ's pick)
Inferno (Aurora's pick)
Overpass (decider, if needed)
Considered Mirage specialists, The MongolZ were the favoured team going into map 1. With a strong opening on the pistol and succesful conversions, the Mongolian squad was in the driver's seat early. However, a valiant Aurora managed to pull together a respectable 5-7 half in the end.
Aurora found their footing on the T side, winning the pistol and going on a streak of rounds early in the half. A stunning Woxic 1v4 kept them in the game, pushing The MongolZ all the way to overtime. Here, The MongolZ managed to find and extra gear and despite another brilliant Woxic 1v2, Aurora ultimately lost map 1 with a 16-14 scoreline.
Things weren't all doom and gloom for Aurora as Mirage was The MongolZ and moving to Dust2, many expected the Turkish squad to equalise the series. Starting on the T side, Aurora secured and the conversion 3-0, but an ironclad defense by The MongolZ shut the Turkish squad out, ending 5-7 in The MongolZ's favor.
While a pistol loss in the second half nearly spelled disaster for Aurora, Wicadia managed to dig deep on an eco round to pull together four kills at A long, bringing Aurora right back at 9-6. To top it off, Wicadia replicated his success, this time with an M4 at B-site to mow down 4, allowing them to secure that and the next round to tie the game 9-9. However, The MongolZ's strat book seemed to run deeper and with a four round streak at the end, they managed to topple Aurora on their own map pick.
Heading to Nuke, things were looking grim for Aurora and another pistol loss didn't bode well. Despite being down 0-2, a bit of Zeus antics by MAJ3R threw the Turkish squad a lifeline in round 3, allowing them to cobble a buy early and secure a bit of money for later rounds.
Unfortunately, Aurora completely fell apart after this, only managing to pick up a total of 3 rounds on their CT-side, a worrying sign for what's arguably a CT-sided map. Despite a pistol victory in the second half, Aurora crumbled, losing the game at 13-4.
Team Vitality Faces Third Semi-Final Loss in a Row
Arguably the strongest CS2 team of 2025, Team Vitality seems to be entering a slump with their third consecutive semi-final exit at a tier-1 LAN. The Apex-led squad fell to The Mongolz in the semi-final, limiting their potential best finish at EWC 2025 in third place. However, this too wasn't to be as a strong Team Falcons took them down in the third-place decider match.
With that loss, Team Vitality failed to secure second place in the club championship, losing a million dollars in the process. Team Vitality will return for Blast Open London in just three days to regain their form ahead of the major. With a strong top-3 finish at CS2, Team Falcons remains atop the club championship standings for EWC 2025, winning $7,000,000 as an organisation.
