Team Vitality Proves Insurmountable, Wins CS2 Blast.tv Austin Major Over The MongolZ

Counter-Strike's first North American Major since Boston 2018 has concluded, and Team Vitality continues its Astralis-esque domination of an era. Leading up to the final, the international roster had only lost their opening game at Austin, dominating the competition the rest of the way. With this win, Vitality's IGL Dan 'apEX' Madesclaire is officially a three-time major winner.
Team Vitality Complete the Reverse Sweep at the CS2 Blast.tv Austin Major After Losing Map 1 to The MongolZ
Following the addition of ropz in 2025, Vitality has been absolutely dominant, winning almost every event they enter. Going into the grand final of the major, it didn't look like this trend would change, but The MongolZ came swinging right out of the gate. Winning their map pick of Mirage in dominant 13-5 fashion, The MongolZ proved that the titan could bleed, and going into Vitality's pick of Dust 2, hopes were high for The MongolZ's fans.
Moving into map 2, Team Vitality instantly silenced viewers who thought they were shaken. Proving their champion mindset, they took charge of Dust 2 and got off to a flying start. In the blink of an eye, the scoreline was sitting at 7-1 in Vitality's favor until Senzu put up a stunning clutch to double their round count.
Despite their best efforts, the MongolZ ended the half down 9-3 and eventually fell to Vitality's dominant T side, losing the map 13-4. On the decider of Inferno, fans were hoping to see a MongolZ side that reset from the crushing defeat on Dust 2, but that wasn't on the cards. Much like Dust 2, Vitality ran away with the map, closing the first half at 9-3 once again.
A late resurgence by The MongolZ was instantly stomped out with a pistol win by Vitality, reaching a 12-3 scoreline by just round 15. Despite late heroics by Techno4K, The MongolZ eventually fell at 13-6, making ropz and Zywoo two-time major champs, apEX a three-time winner, and giving flameZ and mezii their first major title. The next S-Tier CS2 event will be IEM Cologne, next month on July 23, 2025.
