sScary Announces Retirement from Competitive VALORANT

Renowned Thai VALORANT player Nutchapon “sScary” Matarat has officially announced his retirement during a stream last night. This marks the end of his illustrious five-year career in esports. sScary had an impressive career in VALORANT, playing for top teams like X10 Esports, XERXIA, and BLEED Esports. He gained international recognition with X10, competing at VALORANT Champions 2021, and continued to represent APAC in events like Masters Reykjavík and Copenhagen with XERXIA

In his announcement, sScary shared that he has decided to step away entirely from the esports industry, with no plans to take on other roles within the scene. He expressed his intention to move on from the competitive environment and focus on his personal life.

sScary explained that his decision was driven by both personal and physical challenges. He reflected on the sacrifices he made over the years, spending extended periods away from his family and missing out on time with loved ones. Moreover, he has been battling a recurring shoulder injury that has not fully healed despite medical treatment and physical therapy. The persistent pain resurfaced every time he resumed training, making it increasingly difficult to perform at a high level.

Despite receiving offers from various teams, including organizations from both VCT Pacific and Challengers, sScary chose to decline them all, reaffirming his commitment to retirement.

During the stream, he also expressed concerns about the current state of the Thai VALORANT scene. He mentioned that the scene appears to have passed its peak and is now in decline, making this a fitting moment for him to step away from the competitive stage.

sScary leaves behind a remarkable legacy as one of Thailand's most successful VALORANT players. His retirement marks the end of an era, and his contributions to the esports scene will not be forgotten.
