Chinese Valorant powerhouse EDward Gaming has officially announced the departure of head coach Tang “Muggle” Shijun, bringing an end to a long and transformative tenure with the organisation. The announcement came via EDG’s official X account with a heartfelt farewell: “THANK YOU, Muggle! A new chapter awaits; may your passion burn ever bright.”
Muggle Leaves EDward Gaming After An Early Exit From The VALORANT Champions 2025

Muggle first joined EDG’s Valorant division in March 2022, starting as a coach before transitioning into different roles within the team. After spending a year on the sidelines as a substitute and a brief stint as assistant coach, he stepped up to become the head coach in June 2024.
Under Muggle’s leadership, EDG secured major accomplishments, including 1st place at VCT 2025: China Kickoff, VALORANT China Evolution Series Act 2 x ACL (2025), VCT 2024: China, along with a historic 1st place at VALORANT Champions 2024 and podium finishes at VCT 2025: China Stage 2 and Masters Bangkok 2025.
Despite their successes, EDG struggled to close out high-pressure matches in 2025, finishing 13th-16th at Champions 2025 after a loss to Team Liquid. Muggle often acknowledged that composure and adaptation on the international stage were areas where the team still needed improvement. With his departure, EDG now faces a pivotal offseason as they look to rebuild their leadership and rediscover consistency heading into the next VCT season.
